European Human Capital Effectiveness Report
2009 marks the 16th edition of the European Human Capital Effectiveness Report - a comprehensive source of human capital measurement data.
The report provides a portfolio of clearly defined quantitative workforce performance metrics alongside comprehensive benchmark data from organisations across a range of industry sectors in Europe.
PwC’s 12th Annual CEO survey confirms that only 20% of CEOs say that they have comprehensive benchmark information on the performance of industry peers. 84% say that this information is critical to their long term strategies.
Our report offers organisations objective data to help evaluate performance and optimise their return in investment in human capital.
Content and coverage
The analysis covers over 16,500 European organisations, together with the latest comprehensive data submissions from more than 700 Saratoga clients for financial years ending up to the autumn of 2008. The following areas of metric measurement are covered:

- Human capital engagement (resourcing, learning & development, compensation & benefits, absence, turnover)
- Human resource function (size and cost of the function, outsourcing, HR roles and remuneration)
- Workforce structure (diversity, span of control, percentages of management and professionals)
Metrics are analysed across five dimensions: industry sector, country, organisation size, revenue size and the rate of revenue growth, and presented both graphically and numerically.
