Identifying value delivered through HR Shared Services

We will shortly publish the 2007 edition of the HR Shared Services Index.

The HR Shared Services (HRSS) Index is a methodology and benchmarking tool designed to assess how organisations operate their HR shared services by examining the cost, size, structure, service, levels of technology and complexity of the processes administered.

The Index allows organisations to compare the service effectiveness and cost efficiency of the delivery of key HR processes against the different delivery models - either in-house or outsourced.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Saratoga launched the HRSS Index in 2005. The Index is continually developed in consultation with our clients to produce a leading methodology to measure and benchmark HRSS performance. We have collected and analysed data from over 40 global organisations from a broad range of sectors, varying in size from 5,000 employees to 500,000.

Some of the key themes and messages in this year's report include:

  • Organisations are continuing to struggle to balance cost and effective service provision from outsource providers.
  • The number of organisations combining multiple back office functions is rising (e.g. Finance, IT, HR).
  • The service delivered by HRSS contact centres has improved (in comparison with last year's data).
